At Sommelier’s, we focus on breeding healthy and happy cats with a lovely temperament. Every litter is planned out of genuine love for the breed, with health and character gently guiding each decision we make. We also value correct type — the elegant body, refined lines, wavy coat, large ears and the overall expression that makes the Cornish Rex so unique. Our breeding philosophy is simple: thoughtful choices, open communication and a commitment to lifelong wellbeing.
FI*Sommelier’s is a FIFe‑registered Cornish Rex cattery. As a breeder we follow the rules and ethical guidelines of both FIFe and Suomen Kissaliitto (Finnish Cat Association). For us, responsible cat breeding means making every decision — from choosing breeding cats to supporting new owners — with long‑term wellbeing as the guiding principle. It’s about caring for the breed with intention and tenderness, and safeguarding its health, character and future for the generations that will follow.
Each litter is carefully considered, and parents are chosen based on health, temperament and suitability. Ethical breeding also means completing all necessary health examinations and ensuring that every kitten gets the best possible start in life — while trusting their future families to continue that care as they grow.
This commitment to responsible breeding is reflected in the way we care for and evaluate our breeding cats. Health and temperament always come first, and every cat in our program is thoroughly assessed before being considered for breeding.
How we care for our cats and kittens
All our breeding cats are carefully selected with both health and true Cornish Rex type in mind. Before joining our breeding program, each cat is extensively health‑tested and thoughtfully evaluated to ensure they reflect the qualities we value in the breed.
Health & registration
- Registered with Suomen Kissaliitto (FIFe)
- Vaccinated regularly
- HCM scanned to confirm a healthy, structurally normal heart
- PRA tested to confirm freedom from progressive retinal atrophy
- FIV and FeLV tested with negative results
- DNA tested for blood type and other relevant genetic traits
- Tested free for intestinal parasites, including Giardia, Tritrichomonas foetus, and other parasites, to ensure clean and healthy kittens
- Fungal culture tested (Microsporum canis) to confirm freedom from dermatophyte infections
Our cats are raised in a safe, loving home environment where they receive daily interaction and attention.
